SSY is a government-backed savings scheme for the girl child. Deposits can be made for 15 years, and the account matures after 21 years from the date of opening.
How is it calculated?
Interest is compounded annually on the balance. Deposits are made for the first 15 years. For the remaining 6 years (16-21), interest is earned on the accumulated corpus without further deposits.
